25 January 2013, 14:25 Nick Turner is new Eventing High Performance Manager for Ireland Tags: Home » Disciplines News » Nick Turner is new Eventing High Performance Manager for Ireland HORSE Sport Ireland has announced that Nick Turner will be the new HighPerformance Manager for Irish Eventing.Mr. Turner is a Fellow of the British Horse Society (FBHS) and was anaccomplished eventer who completed in 13 four star events. He stoppedcompeting in 2008.In recent times he has been a member of the British Senior InternationalSelection Committee and he was the Team Manager and Coach of theBrazilian National Eventing Team from 2009. He has acted as Chefd’Equipe for the Brazilian team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games andthe 2012 Olympic Games in London.Previously Mr. Turner was a professional show jumper and a part-timelecturer in equine studies. He is qualified in Nuero LinguisticProgramming (NLP), a technique used in sports psychology.Mr. Turner said he was very pleased to be appointed.“I am delighted to be appointed to this important position. I am lookingforward to working with the riders to build on their performances todate and on the work done over the past four years,” he said.Horse Sport Ireland Chairman Joe Walsh said that he was delighted toannounce the appointment of Mr. Turner.“There were many excellent candidates for this role. Nick’s experienceand his plans for the Irish Eventing Team really made a big impressionon the panel and I have no doubt but that he will do an excellent job,”he said.Eventing Ireland Chairperson Georgia Stubington also welcomed theappointment.“Nick has a wealth of experience in eventing at all levels. Since hegave up riding he has worked hard to develop his coaching and managementskills and I am sure that he will put these to good use in his newrole,” she said.
