first_img PENSACOLA, Fla. – The West Florida women’s tennis team claimed a 6-3 win over the University of New Orleans in the regular season finale at home on Sunday.  The Argonauts picked up win number 17 and will head into the postseason with a mark of 17-10.The Argonauts took a 3-0 lead after going undefeated in doubles play.  Junior Caitlyn Baines (Ft. Walton Beach, Fla./Choctawhatchee HS) and senior Taylor Brewster (Fergus, Ontario/Centre Wellington District HS), the No. 21 doubles team in the country, defeated UNO’s Amber Garza and Kozue Matsumoto 8-3 at the No. 1 doubles spot.  Sophomores Jacqueline March (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla./South Walton HS) and Luiza Sonnervig (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Ateneu HS) won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, and the Argos claimed the third point by default.The Argonauts clinched the overall win as the Privateers defaulted at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots, giving UWF a 5-0 lead.  UNO did claim three wins in singles play, but Sonnervig won for UWF at the No. 1 spot, 6-4, 6-2, to give the Argos their sixth point.UWF (17-10, 5-0 GSC) will have a full week to prepare for the GSC Tournament in Montgomery, Ala. on April 16-17.  For more information on the GSC Tournament, visit www.gscsports.com.  For information on all UWF Athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com. #ARGOS##7 University of West Florida 6, University of New Orleans 34/10/2011 at Pensacola, Fla.
