Free fishing derby set at Legg Lake SOUTH EL MONTE – A free fishing derby for youngsters 17 and younger will be held from 7 a.m. to 1p.m. Saturday at the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area’s Legg Lake, 751 S. Santa Anita Ave. Youths will be provided fishing poles and tackle. Children ages 16 and 17 must have a valid state fishing license. Children also will be able to learn about marine life through the visiting Mobile Aquarium provided by the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific.
